He has almost 40 years of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He worked as ‘director professor’ of plastic surgery for more than 10 years.

• Born and brought up at small hamlet in Chhattisgarh, studied at Raipur, trained in plastic surgery at PGI Chandigarh in 1983 and in USA in 1993 under Dr IT Jackson. After completing the MCh at PGI, worked at Medical College Rohtak for over 2 years and established an independent department. In 1986 joined JIPMER, Pondicherry and established a state of art, progressive and vibrant department. This is one of the best plastic surgery centre in southern part of country. In 2010 joined the department of Burns, Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery at Safdarjung Hospital as head of the department and worked till end of 2018.

One of the best surgeons in the field of reconstructive surgery for defects and deformities due to congenital anomalies, burn & post burn, trauma, cancer surgery, infection and following any other cause. His teaching skill is appreciated across the country. He has been recognised by many orations and awards. He is writing a six volume text book of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery which is a project of its kind. He has written many landmark research articles in journals and books. He has been the editor and reviewer for many journals.
  His research acumen is also appreciated. He is the chairman of ethical committee of Instt of Pathology (ICMR), member of Instt Ethical Comm of Safdarjung Hospital, member of School of Studies of GGSIP University, and was member of medical education unit.His administrative skills have brought laurels to the departments at JIPMER as well as Safdarjung Hospital. He was chairman of many institute committees as well as member of many committees in the ministry. He was advisor to Govt of India for National Programme of Burns. With the help of Smile Train, he is rendering free service to children with cleft lip and palate including their dental treatment as well as speech therapy. He is ready to help burn, postburn deformity as well as other patients from economically weaker section as much as possible.
